Problem: Agent Start: Start agent fails with "The Oracleagent10gAgent service could not be started."

Symptoms
After Agent installation, the following error occurs when attempting to stop and start agent:

Stopping Agent

C:\> /bin/emctl stop agent 
Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 3 Grid Control 10.2.0.3.0.

Starting Agent

C:\> /bin/emctl start agent

The Oracleagent10gAgent service could not be started.

Cause
The EM agent has been recently installed and the server has not been rebooted.
Solution
1) Reboot Server
2) On Windows Platform try stopping and starting the EM Agent service via the Services Administration Console:

START > services.msc > select “Oracleagent10gAgent” > Right Click Stop
START > services.msc > select “Oracleagent10gAgent” > Right Click Start
